Chilly's at Glastonbury 2022

We will be returning to Glastonbury Festival in 2023 as the official reusable bottle supplier!

As part of Glastonbury's mission to reduce plastic waste, we popped up at this summer's long-awaited event to help festival-goers reuse, refill and repeat. Scroll on for a glimpse of all the colourful fun...

Ah, the great summer festival. For some, a place to 'get wasted' – but more often than not, they're places where waste gets left behind - and lots of it. Case in point: in 2017, Glastonbury festival-goers got through a shocking 1.3m plastic bottles. So in 2019, Glasto went plastic free – by banning single-use drinks bottles in a bid to stem the tide of rubbish.

After one fallow year and two pandemic summers, the festival finally returned for 2022, with the organisers encouraging revellers to use reusable bottles. We were keen to show our support and so we set up shop (tent?) for an immersive and colourful Chilly's experience. In collaboration with @blankwalls__ and @thesyruproom we created an epic interactive space with live art, limited edition bottles, T-shirts, sticker packs – and a cold water refill point ofc💧

We had two talented in-house artists creating live murals for us: @itsrosiewoods painted our giant Chilly’s bottle, as well as an incredible piece on one of the shop walls, and @dickydoesdrawing freestyled on our bottles, making totally unique pieces.

"The power of collaboration was great to see," Blank Walls co-founder Alex Harvey told us afterwards. "It was really cool bringing these talented people together, from the artists to the build team (The Syrup Room) and also the retail staff."

"Dicky smashed it out the park with his 1 of 1 bottles - he did over 120 during the festival, plus 200 before! Rosie's mural and giant bottle artwork evolved beautifully over the week; people really enjoyed coming back to see how it had developed."

"We were stoked to be involved in such a cool project - seeing how a large-scale festival promoted the sustainability message so strongly, and how willing people were to be a part of it. There's a lot of genuine Chilly's love out there and it was nice to see those reactions in person with something a little different - creating a unique piece of art and long-lasting memory from their Glasto experience."

Says Glastonbury's Emily Eavis: “It’s paramount for our planet that we all reduce our plastic consumption, and I’m thrilled that, together, we’ll be able to prevent over a million single-use plastic bottles from being used at this year’s Festival. I really hope that everyone – from ticket-holder to headliner – will leave Worthy Farm this year knowing that even small, everyday changes can make a real difference. It’s now or never.”
